Laloo is a small retail business in the heart of Nevada City on Broad Street - Across from City Hall.

Our client wanted to take a very old, asbestos shingle covered building and make it feel like it was contextually consistent with the historic downtown, while updating the finishes and materials in such a way as to make it less maintenance intensive.

Because the building sits within the Historical District of Nevada City, our office was required to provide planning documents consisting of revised elevations as well as all material and color choices for the project.  A Planning Commission meeting was required as well as multiple discussions with the City before and after the eventual approval.

The builiding was once the office of Dr. Hummelt, a renowned local general practitioner.
