LEED AP Certification

Andrew recently completed his United States Green Building Council LEED AP Certification.

This makes him one of just a few LEED Certified professionals in our area.

“I have always felt strongly about the principles that the USGBC now promotes, and I was increasingly fatigued with what being passed off as ‘green/sustainable certification’ by various organizations” Pawlowski says. He added “The LEED process is unique in that it is not tied to particular products or trades, but certifies “green” using independent standards in a way that approaches the building as an integrated whole, not just a building that happens to have a couple of sustainable products in it.”

Finally, Pawlowski notes, “The greatest satisfaction in the effort to prepare for the exam was learning how easy some of the goals are to achieve, how something so simple as the building’s orientation and allowing for day-lighting can change the cost of operating the building over time, and how increased ventilation and indoor air quality have not only physical health implications, but have resulted in measurable results in occupant well-being and employee productivity.  Also, even if an owner doesn’t elect to pursue the USGBC certification, I have expanded knowledge to incorporate selected principals in a way that suits the project, its site, and its users without significant added cost.”

Congratulations Andrew!
